In a nutshell, Valentine’s is a time to celebrate your love with a special someone. But for others, they prefer making things less intimate while still enjoying the spirit of the love month. Instead of taking a loved one on a special date, they invite their friends, prepare a venue, look for a number of catering services, and have a meaningful celebration of the Season of Love.
For those who a little more into detail, it would be nice to incorporate a theme with your celebration, since the jeans-shirt-sneakers-flip flops idea might be a tad bit too… normal. For a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience, here are some fun themes to consider for your Valentine’s party.
Since the summer season draws nigh, why not celebrate that and Valentine’s Day together? If you know any beaches/resorts you can rent out for you and your friends/family members, book it ASAP!
More often than not, there are staff in the venue available who can buy viands like fish or meat in nearby markets and can cook it for you as well, all for an affordable price.
If not, you can always buy the food yourself and cook it at the venue; nothing shows true love more than hard work. Don’t forget to bring tables, chairs, grill equipment, eating utensils, plates, a couple of bottles of wine, some glasses, and beach attire like khakis, white tops, sunglasses, and a hat or two.
Another reason why this is a good idea is because after a hearty barbecue meal, you can take your spouse/special someone for a walk along the beach. There’s nothing more romantic than that.
If you’re not one for out-of-town trips, you can always book a hotel’s ballroom and host a party there. They’ve got everything you need: food, entertainment, venue, etc. All you need to do is prepare an organized program and show up with your guests.
Anyways, for a more formal-themed Heart’s Day celebration, require everyone to dress down to the nines: a suit and tie for the men and a dress/gown for the ladies. The outfits and venue will make you feel like you’re dining in a swanky, international restaurant. Plus, you and your significant other will look their absolute best.
After a romantic dinner, you and your partner can take to the dance floor to cap the night off and slow dance to songs like “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole or “Until the End of Time” by Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles. Or, you can get your party on with Psy’s “Gangnam Style” or “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley
Tea and Dessert
This particular idea might need a bit more work, since you can spruce it up and make the party a la “Alice in Wonderland” with the fantastical costumes. For sure, the women will come as Alice, the White Queen, or the Red Queen, while the men as the Mad Hatter or White Rabbit. In terms of food, simple prepare a selection of warm teas (jasmine, Earl Grey, green) and treats like cake slices or even desserts.
A Red & Pink party
Since it’s the love month, why not create a party based on the colors of the season: red and pink. You can set red plates with pink plastic cutleries, prepare food like crab, and enjoy desserts like red velvet cake, pink cupcakes, or strawberry ice cream! For your outfit, a simple red tee or polo shirt will do.
